Leonardo × @nibsandflourishes Aster Bouquet Fountain Pen

My inspiration for the Aster Bouquet pen as well as my Garden Delights Autumn Aster ink are the ‘Bluebird’ asters I have in my garden. They bloom in September, when warmer colors like golds, oranges, and reds are beginning to dominate, and the pops of fresh periwinkle provide a fantastic cooler contrast to the warm, bright colors of early autumn. Each flower is tiny, but each stem has dozens and dozens of the tiny blooms and the effect is like a periwinkle cloud above delicate foliage.

I have always loved periwinkle and blue/violet hues, but unfortunately they are not very well represented in fountain pens compared to other colors, so I wanted to change that! I added a ribbon of shimmery turquoise to the mix to represent the sky and because I have always loved periwinkle and turquoise together. It was wonderful to work with Bob Dupras on the resin mix, which contains both periwinkle and a deeper blue-violet along with bits of white and turquoise shimmer. I chose an engraved floral band with aster-shaped flowers on it for this pen because I love how previous Hatch projects like the Kilk Epigram Dusk have cap bands that echo the theme of the pen.
