Fuki (Butterbur) - The day of the vernal equinox. As it gets warmer, various plants will sprout. 

Tako (Octopus) - The day of the summer solstice. Japanese people eat octopus, praying that their crops will grow in abundance like the legs of an octopus. 

Hagi (Bush clover) - The day of the autumnal equinox. The red beans used in 'Ohagi are believed to ward off evil spirits. 

Yuzuyu (Yuzu citron bath) - The day of the winter solstice. It is said that taking a 'Yuzu bath' will help you get through the winter without catching a cold.
